Montclair Schools Interim Superintendent Dr. Nathan Parker sent an email to parents, caregivers and colleagues sharing the passing of Karen Wingield, a very valued member of the community and the Montclair Public Schools.
A lifelong resident of Montclair and highly regarded member of the Montclair Public Schools’ staff, Wingfield most recently served as a paraprofessional at Glenfield Middle School.
A graduate of Hillside School, and a member of the Class of 1970 of Montclair High School, Wingfield graduated Bloomfield College in 1975. She went on to serve the students of the Montclair school district for a total of 40 years.
In addition to her work with students in the classroom, Wingfield took on additional iimportant roles — advising the Black Student Union and serving as one of the coaches to the high school cheerleading team.
