Staff from a pharmacy have paid tribute to a much-loved and well-known colleague who died after contracting coronavirus.
Mandy Siddorn, 61, worked for Swettenham Chemists Ltd, which has branches across Chester, Wirral and north Wales.
The registered accuracy checking technician, from Birkenhead in Merseyside, was highly thought of by her colleagues and customers.
Staff from the pharmacy acknowledged the loss of ‘one of our Swettenham family’ and said having to continue to work after learning of her death was ‘probably the hardest day the teams have ever faced’.
Swettenham Chemists said on Friday: ‘It is with much sadness that we acknowledge the loss of one of our Swettenham ‘family’, Mandy, who passed away as a result of contracting coronavirus.

‘Mandy worked across our Wirral and Chester branches as a registered checking technician, the highest non-pharmacist role, and did so with outstanding professionalism and accuracy.

‘We are all devastated by this tragic loss and our thoughts go out to all who knew her.
‘Mandy is being remembered as a loyal, hardworking, dedicated and joyous friend to all of us. Yesterday was probably the hardest day the teams have ever faced.
‘Every single member of staff dealt with their emotions in order to get on with the task in hand to dispense the medication our patients need.
‘Our admiration for the team’s professionalism and loyalty knows no bounds.
‘We could all feel Mandy’s presence and her bustling good humour urging us on.
‘Our love, thoughts and prayers are with everyone who knew Mandy, in particular her mother Dorothy, daughter and son-in-law Aimee and Steve, granddaughter Molly, and sister-in-law Jane.’
The news comes as the Department of Health confirmed today another 717 people have died after contracting coronavirus, taking the UK death toll to at least 11,329.
The rise in deaths has been decreasing since Friday, when a record number of 980 people died. This dropped by nearly 250 on Sunday, when 737 people were confirmed dead.
