Central Park just reopened The Dairy, a historic building near 65th Street in the center of the park, after a renovation project that fixed the roof and windows, made it ADA-compliant, and added climate control features inside. It serves as a visitors center and gift shop.
The Dairy is one of the oldest structures in the park. It was was a gathering place for children in the 19th century, where they could get milk and snacks. It became the official park visitors center in 1979. The video below explains the restoration.
And the Marlene Meyerson JCC on 76th and Amsterdam has reopened its Goldman-Sonnenfeldt Auditorium, which has been under construction for over a year. It’s now showing the Other Israel Film Festival, which runs through November 11.

“The auditorium went through a full gut renovation, with a design by Mitchell Kurtz,” the JCC tells us. “Overall, the auditorium changes were to beautify, improve comfort, and make it more accessible. Some of the major updates include: larger, more comfortable seats; sound improvements and better acoustical materials; accessibility improvements; and technological upgrades including a new screen, upgraded sound board, and lighting.”
The auditorium will be used for concerts, talks and holliday events, including the return of Shabbat Shabbang dinners and Hannukah parties.
