Staff at Sabha Medical Center have gone on strike in solidarity with their colleague who was beaten and insulted while on the job Sunday.
A statement published on the centre's Facebook page said that "the doctors' strike came in protest against the repeated attacks on medical and paramedical staff" and demanded a security force to protect them.
According to the statement, the alleged attacker not only abused a supervisor in the children's department but verbally assaulted the doctors and nursing staff in the section.
The center noted that this incident is not the first of its kind and that the physical and verbal attacks on the medical and auxiliary staff at the center have escalated alarmingly.
