TOKYO – Gators resumed action Wednesday at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, competing in baseball, track & field and golf. The day was highlighted by Grant Holloway's silver medal in the 110-meter hurdles and top-five finishes by Will Claye and Joseph Fahnbulleh in the triple jump and 200 meters, respectively.

Men's & Women's Track & Field
Gators Great Grant Holloway (USA) earned a silver medal in the 110-meter hurdles Wednesday to close his first Olympiad inside Olympic Stadium in Tokyo.

The 2019 outdoors world champion posted a time of 13.09 second, adding the first Olympic medal to his already impressive resume.

Holloway's silver is the 25th Olympic medal in UF track and field history and the 140th in Gators history since 1972.

In addition to Holloway's silver medal, fellow Gators Great Will Claye finished fourth in the triple jump and sprinter Joseph Fahnbulleh (Liberia) fifth in the 200 meters finals.

A three-time Olympian, Claye logged a mark of 17.44 meters (57 feet, 2.75 inches) [+0.4] during the final round of competition.

Fahnbulleh, who was crowned NCAA outdoors champion earlier this year, finished his first Olympic Games setting a new Liberian national record after crossing in 19.98 seconds. He became the first Liberian 200 meters finalist in Olympic history.

Earlier in the day, Cory McGee (USA) ran the 1,500 meters semifinals and finished 24th overall with a time of 4:10.39. McGee seemed to have been tripped during the race but after appealing the results, the Florida record holder advanced to the finals with an "Advanced To Next Round By Referee" designation (qR).

The 1,500 meters final is scheduled for Friday at 8:50 a.m. ET, and it can be streamed live here.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase finals, Genevieve LaCaze Gregson (Australia) was unable to finish due to an injury during competition.

The action continues Thursday morning with Doneisha Anderson (Bahamas) running the 4x400-meter relays qualifying. The race begins at 6:25 a.m. ET, and it can be streamed live here.

Baseball
Mark Kolozsvary and Team USA advanced to the gold-medal semifinals at Tokyo 2020 with a 3-1 win over the Dominican Republic on Wednesday morning.

For the fourth time in as many games to open Olympic play, Kolozsvary started behind the plate for the Stars and Stripes. The former Gator caught all nine innings as Team USA pitchers combined for nine innings of one-run ball, allowing just five hits while striking out eight.

Powering the team to a 3-1 record, Kolozsvary has caught all 37 innings for the United States in Tokyo.

With the win, Team USA advances to play Korea in the gold-medal semifinals on Thursday, Aug. 5 at 6 a.m. ET. While a win on Thursday would send the United States to the gold-medal game scheduled for Saturday, a loss would still result in a bid to the bronze-medal game this upcoming Friday.

Women's Golf
After becoming the first woman to represent Puerto Rico in golf at the Olympics yesterday, Marife Torres resumes competition in Tokyo with round two of stroke play at 9:47 p.m. ET tonight. Her first round featured five total birdies that has her tied for 41st at +2 (73).
