Behind a pair of goals from Barclay Goodrow, the Lightning defeated the Red Wings 3-1 on Friday night at Amalie Arena.
The win pushes Tampa Bay's winning streak to four games and gives them back-to-back sweeps over Nashville and Detroit on the homestand.
The Red Wings got off to a much stronger start in the second game of the series and grabbed the lead midway through the first. Just as a slashing call on Victor Hedman expired, Filip Zadina's shot from the right circle deflected in off Vladislav Namestnikov, who was setting a screen in front of Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Pat Maroon's goal at the 13:56 mark of the first got Tampa Bay to intermission with the game tied at one. Maroon intercepted a pass inside the left circle and spun at the point before firing a shot that beat Thomas Greiss through a screen set by Alex Killorn.
The scoring didn't come as easy tonight for Tampa Bay, but they managed to grab the lead late in the second period on Barclay Goodrow's first goal of the season. Goodrow jumped off the bench late and fired home a feed from Jan Rutta to put the Lightning up 2-1 through 40 minutes. Again it was a shot from distance that Greiss couldn't handle, this time slipping through his five-hole even though he had a clean look at the shot coming from the point.
Goodrow added his second of the night into an empty net in the final minute to round out the scoring.
After only facing 16 shots in the series-opener, Vasilevskiy was busier on Friday. Vasilevskiy made 27 saves on 28 shots.
The Bolts now hit the road for a four-game trip that stops in Nashville and Florida.
