Rockets guard Austin Rivers, after returning to the NBA campus on Saturday, was given the shortest quarantine period the league protocols allow, assuring he would be ready for the start of the Rockets’ restart games on Friday.
Rivers is scheduled to complete his quarantine period on Tuesday, Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni said, indicating he is required to remain in his campus hotel room, the shortest time for those that had been permitted to leave the campus for excused reasons. Rivers departed last Thursday for what D’Antoni termed “family reasons.”
“I think he’ll be out (of quarantine) Tuesday night, probably not in time to play,” D’Antoni said of the Rockets’ final scrimmage. “Sometime Tuesday night he’ll be with us. He’ll practice Wednesday, Thursday and be ready for Friday.”
The Rockets play the Boston Celtics on Tuesday before opening their schedule of eight “seeding” games Friday against the Dallas Mavericks.
