FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - Permits filed for a popular chain grocery store suggest they are moving closer to opening their doors for the first time in Fort Wayne.
Construction on the signage for Fort Wayne's first Trader Joe's location could be complete by the end of summer, according to construction documents filed by the company.
The chain grocery is planning to set up shop in Jefferson Pointe between the Panera Bread restaurant and the DeBrand Fine Chocolates store. ABC21 first reported in early March on efforts to establish that location as the site of the company's first store in the Fort Wayne area.

The former space of Louie’s Tux Shop, which relocated, and Charming Charlie which closed, and one recently occupied by a Complete Health nutrition store are part of the renovation project.
The Complete Health shop relocated to another part of Jefferson Pointe.
According to permits filed for the building, the construction on the signs on the building and out front is estimated to be complete by Sept. 16.
From the internet famous "Everything but the Bagel Seasoning" to Cauliflower Gnocchi, Trader Joe's offers regular grocery staples to a line of specialty items that are unique to the chain.
Trader Joe's has two other Indiana locations in Indianapolis.
The chain has more than 500 stores nationwide.
