East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team is tied for 11th among 18 teams after the second round of play at The Landfall Tradition, being played at the Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course in Wilmington, N.C.
The final round of play in the three-day, 54-hole event will be hold on Sunday. The Landfall Tradition is being played on the par-72, 6,150-yard rolling layout along the scenic Intracoastal Waterway near Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina.
Michigan State is tied for 11th place with Maryland at 9-over 595 after shooting an 8-over par 296 in Saturday's second round.
San Jose State leads the field at 14-under par 562, with Wake Forest second at 10-under par 566. Florida State and South Carolina are tied for third place at 4-under par 572 and and North Carolina State rounds out the top-five teams at 2-under par 574.
Fifth year Valery Plata leads the Spartans at 4-under par 140 (70-70), standing in a tie for sixth place overall. She posted back-to-back rounds of 2-under par 70.
Junior Valentina Rossi shot a 1-over par 73 in the second round and is tied for 19th place at 1-under par 143 (70-73). She had entered the second round tied for 12th place after a 2-under par 70 on Friday.
Junior Leila Raines shot a 5-over par 77 and is tied for 46th place at 4-over par 148 (71-77).
Sophomores Brooke Biermann Katie Lu are tied for 80th place at 11-over par 155. Lu shot a 4-over par 76 on Saturday, while Biermann countered with a 5-over par 77.
Michigan State will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, playing alongside Alabama and Maryland.
