The women tallied 72.00 against Penn State and 73.00 against Notre Dame. The men tied Penn State with 83.00 points and tallied 69.00 points against Notre Dame.
The men's diving program was dominate on the first day, as senior Dylan Reed finished first (348.20) and sophomore Cameron Cash finished third (326.80) in the 1-meter springboard. Freshman Rachel Dickerson had an impressive debut, claiming second (279.55) in the women's 3M.
The women's 400 medley relay team consisting of freshman Claire Jansen, senior Tatum Detwiler, freshman Kate Bailey, and senior Kate Fuhrmann earned a second-place finish just behind Penn State with a time of 3:43.56. The men's 400 medley relay team earned a third-place finish.
For the women, Jansen and Detwiler each finished third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.28) and the 100-yard breaststroke 1:03.47, respectively. In her Panther debut, freshman Yasmine Safargar finished second in the 400-yard medley with a time of 4:26.88.
On the men's side, senior Jerry Chen finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (53.99) as junior Marcin Goraj also finished first in the 200-yard backstroke (1:44.88) and earned third in the 100-yard butterfly (48.80).
The Panthers are back in action tomorrow for the second day of competition. Diving is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. with the swimming events to start at 10 a.m.
