WASHINGTON, DC -- Five days after clobbering Virginia in a rivalry match at Audi Field, the No. 14 Terps (3-1-1) bested another rival in the No. 21 Hoyas (1-2-2) at Shaw Field behind a pair of first half goals.
Malcolm Johnston fooled the opposing goalkeeper on a penalty kick for the second game in a row, giving the Terps the early lead. Nick Richardson added to that lead with his first career goal on a heads-up play off a Hoya turnover.
Neumann and the rest of the Maryland defense were strong all game, with Neumann recording five saves and only conceding the one goal.
With the win, Maryland was able to avenge its 1-0 loss to Georgetown last season.
