Grading the Cowboys: Dak Prescott gets his slump buster in complete team win over Washington - The Dallas Morning News

nnnindonesia.blogspot.com

Here are Jean-Jacques Taylor’s grades from the Cowboys’ 56-14 win over the Washington Football Team New York at AT&T Stadium:

Run offense

Ezekiel Elliott had only 37 yards on the ground, and the Cowboys didn’t have a runner crack 40, but it didn’t matter. Elliott scored on an 11-yard run and the Cowboys seemed to find some things that worked in the running game. Dak Prescott rushed for 21 yards, his second-highest total of the season, which is a positive.

GRADE: B

Pass offense

Prescott emerged from his slump in a huge way. He passed for 330 yards and four touchdowns in the first half as Dallas rolled up 42 first-half points. Amari Cooper, who asked for the ball this week, caught seven passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. It was his most productive game since he had 122 yards on Halloween. CeeDee Lamb went over 1,000 yards with 66 yards receiving. Five receivers wound up with more than 50 yards.

GRADE: A

Run defense

Antonio Gibson had only six carries for 29 yards, in part, because Dallas grabbed control of the game so early. The Cowboys had five tackles for loss and Washington did nothing on the ground when the game mattered.

GRADE: A

Pass defense

DeMarcus Lawrence tipped a pass at the line of scrimmage, intercepted it and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown to give Dallas a 21-0 first-quarter lead. Trevon Diggs intercepted his 11th pass of the season on Washington’s first play. Dallas had five sacks, 10 hits on the quarterback and broke up six passes.

GRADE: A+

Special teams

The Cowboys blocked their third punt of the year and this one was recovered in the end zone for a touchdown -- Corey Clement blocked it and Chauncey Golston recovered it. Lamb had a 21-yard punt return and Greg Zuerlein made each of his eight extra points.

GRADE: A+

Coaching

Kellen Moore used the no-huddle to create tempo early in the game as the Cowboys’ offense finally found some rhythm. He also did a masterful job of calling plays in the red zone, highlighted by the tackle-eligible touchdown pass. Dallas was 6-6 in the red zone. Dan Quinn’s defense was sharp from the start and he did a god job of creating pressure on Taylor Heinicke. The 42 points in the first half was an amazing performance.

GRADE: A+

Overall

This was the complete win the Cowboys have been trying to put together for weeks. They were dominant on offense, defense and special teams. Mike McCarthy has this team rolling with two games left. The Cowboys are the NFC East champs, but they’re still in position to get the No. 1 seed and to make some noise in the playoffs. They’re peaking at the right time -- and that’s a good thing for the Cowboys.

GRADE: A+
