JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Four members of the Kent State men's track and field team competed at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Wednesday.
Kristian Kneffler posted the Golden Flashes' best finish on opening day with a height of 16'-10.75" to tie for 16th in the pole vault. Kneffler passed on the opening bar before clearing first attempts at 16'-4.75" and 16'-10.75". The bar was then raised to 17'-2.75", but Kneffler was unsuccessful in his three attempts.
Jake Wickey placed 22nd in the hammer throw with a top mark of 205-8" on his first attempt.
Scott Benco's best throw also came on his first attempt of the day, as he launched the javelin 206'-3" and finished 33rd.
On the track, Asa Hodrick sprinted to 23rd place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.19 and finished 37th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.43.
Four Golden Flashes are scheduled for action on Thursday. Leah Pasqualetti will compete in the women's pole vault at 3 p.m. Gabby Bailey and Grace Tennant will follow in the women's shot put at 6 p.m. The day will conclude with Ruby Greenwood running the women's 400-meter dash at 7:25 p.m.
