Arkansas harvest advances, 57% rice and 6% cotton complete

Harvest continues at a steady pace for rice, soybeans, and corn in Arkansas.  Rice is 57 percent harvested with 96 percent of the crop mature and 61 percent rated good to excellent.  Cotton harvest is 6 percent complete with 95 percent of the crop opening bolls and 80 percent rated good to excellent.  Soybean harvest is 17 percent complete with 45 percent of the crop mature and 64 percent rated good to excellent.  Corn harvest is 75 percent complete. 

Thirty-eight percent of peanuts have been dug with 5 percent harvested and 92 percent is rated good to excellent. Alfalfa is rated 54 percent good.  Vegetables are rated 63 percent good to excellent.

Eighty-four percent of Topsoil and 86 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
