SAITAMA -- A man was confirmed dead at a hospital after a coworker made an emergency call from a street in the Saitama Prefecture city of Asaka, just north of Tokyo, on the night of Aug. 23, saying that he had "stabbed a person."
Saitama Prefectural Police's Asaka Police Station arrested Kurahito Hino, 48, a company employee living in the prefectural city of Niiza who made the emergency call, on suspicion of carrying a kitchen knife on a street in Asaka at around 9:20 p.m. Aug. 23. Officers arrived at the scene to find a 58-year-old man bleeding from his upper body and collapsed on the street. Police are questioning Hino on suspicion of murder.
Hino has admitted to carrying the knife, which was reportedly blood-stained. The deceased man was found approximately 150 meters from where Hino was when officers found him.
