AN IRISH WOMAN awkwardly discovered that a colleague of hers had 'googled' how to pronounce her name during an online video call.
The woman - named Fionnuala - noticed the gaffe during an online meeting when her colleague shared their screen with the group.
She spotted that a Google tab had been left open titled: 'how do you pronounce fionnuala?'
Awks ... as the kids would say.
To be fair, we here at the Irish Post think it's lovely that someone was polite enough to make an effort not to bastardise the pronunciation of an Irish name. Lord know how many phone calls our commercial executive Oisin has taken where a quick Google search could save a rather embarrassing first few seconds.

Despite the cringe, Fionnuala took the situation with good grace, and took to Twitter to celebrate the joys of having an Irish name.

"When your colleague shares their screen and they still have this tab open. #IrishNameProblems," she wrote.
Unsurprisingly, other Irish folk were quick to get in touch with her with their own stories of nominative embarrassment.
A Fearghal said he'd been called Fraggle, Frodo, Fuego, Fraga and even Virgil, while a Siobhan revealed she got the usual 'see-o-ban'.
Others noted that people would often skip their tricky first names and refer to them just by their surname in emails.

Delicious madness.
Thankfully though, Fionnuala insists she's not offended by the mistakes.
"I usually make them guess [how to pronounce my name] first to see how close they are but it's such a great conversation starter," she wrote.
"I'm so proud of my name that I love being able to tell people how to say it!"
Here here Fionnuala.
