Rockies 5, Dodgers 3: A complete team victory - Purple Row

nnnindonesia.blogspot.com

The Rockies showed a glimpse of what they are fully capable of as they utilized timely hitting, gritty pitching and good defense to collect a victory over the dreaded Dodgers, 5-3 on Saturday.

Early offense

Both starters found themselves in some trouble at the beginning of the game as they were attacked early by the opposing offense. A seemingly-innocuous Freddie Freeman infield single was made significant when he scored on Will Smith’s subsequent double to give LA a 1-0 lead, making Saturday the third straight game in which the Dodgers scored in the opening frame. The Rockies would strike back quickly though as two infield singles put runners on first and second base for José Iglesias. He sent a ball to third that wasn’t handled by Max Muncy, allowing a run to score and tie the game. Randal Grichuk would then add on with an RBI single to give Colorado a 2-1 lead (he was thrown out while trying for a double, but let’s not dwell on that).

The Dodgers counterpunched in the top of the third when a home run off the bat of Trea Turner and RBI single by Hanser Alberto returned the lead to the visitors at 3-2. There it would remain for the next few innings as both pitchers found their groove.

Left-handers duel in Denver

Not all pitchers’ duels are 1-0 complete game battles; sometimes it’s just two players finding their rhythm midway through a game, and that was the case on Saturday. Following that run-scoring top of the third, both Clayton Kershaw and Kyle Freeland found their comfort zones and kept the opposing batters off the basepaths. Kershaw retired seven in a row at one point from the second inning to the fourth, and that baserunner came after an infield single and throwing error. Freeland, for his part, matched the LA legend by also retiring seven straight, including four strikeouts in a row at one juncture.

As “KFree” completed his outing having thrown six innings of three-run ball (thanks in part to Grichuk runing down a deep fly ball to the gap to keep LA from scoring again), the Dodgers took their one-run lead to the bottom of the sixth, where Kershaw looked to continue his dominance over Colorado’s bats.

Special sixth

With one out, Brendan Rodgers stepped to the plate to try to get a rally started. He did so with a base knock to right field, and was joined on the basepaths by José Iglesias, whose excuse-me swing plopped the ball into right field for a hit. With two on for Grichuk, he came through with his second triple in as many nights as he sent a line drive just inside the right field foul line to score Rodgers and Iglesias and give Colorado the advantage at 4-3.

Elias Díaz would then score Grichuk on a base hit, putting the score at 5-3 and ending Kershaw’s night prematurely. It would now be up to Colorado’s bullpen to hold the lead for three more innings.

Bard’s bullpen shows out

On the day that the Rockies chose to reward their bullpen leader with a two-year contract extension, Colorado’s relief corps showed what they can do as they protected the late lead. Lucas Gilbreath pitched a clean seventh frame in which every out was recorded by Garrett Hampson at third base, while Alex Colomé worked a 1-2-3 eighth. Colomé was aided by a nice diving play in left field by Yonathan Daza that even the batter, Freeman, couldn’t help but tip his cap to.

Bard entered and pitched a scoreless ninth to secure the victory and send the sold-out Coors Field crowd home happy. A game that showed what the Rockies can do when they play at their best ended with a victory.

Up Next

The Rockies and Dodgers have one more to play in their series, which will take place on Sunday afternoon. That contest will pit LA’s Tony Gonsolin (11-1, 2.26 ERA, losing pitcher in 2022 MLB All-Star Game) against Colorado’s Germán Márquez (6-8, 5.25 ERA).

First pitch is at 1:10pm MDT. See you then!

School families urged to complete Free and Reduced Lunch application - The Outer Banks Voice

nnnindonesia.blogspot.com

By on July 30, 2022

(Food For Thought)

As families are preparing for the new school year, there is one ‘new’ task that will look very familiar. Completing the Free and Reduced Lunch application was temporarily waived during the pandemic, but it is a requirement again for students who are eligible for no-cost breakfasts and lunches when schools open in August.

“It’s been almost three years since people have needed to complete an application; it’s just not on their radar,” says Kelleta Govan, the Director of School Nutrition at Dare County Schools.

As a side benefit, Govan explained that there are a myriad of services linked to that simple paperwork. Additional benefits may include reduced fees for Advanced Placement Testing, Internet Access, School Funding, and Pandemic EBT benefits.

Additionally, the Outer Banks Food for Thought (FFT) uses the numbers of approved applications to plan their weekend meal deliveries. FFT Board members are hopeful the re-instated paperwork requirement will allow them to reach more households of students who are at risk of missing nutritional meals and snacks during weekends.

There is no need to wait for the paper applications to be sent home with students. It is available right now online at: LunchApplication.com

Families who prefer to fill out a form by hand and submit it on paper may visit Free and Reduced Lunch Application to print out a form.

Govan explained that families can submit applications anytime during the school year. Many families affected by seasonal employment qualify well after the school year begins.

Bobbie Murray, President of Food for Thought, says, “While it’s completely anonymous who is receiving our weekend meals, it’s vital for us to know how many meals we will be packing this year so we can fund and pack the right amount of groceries.”

Currently there are 22.1% of Dare County students who qualify for the Free and Reduced meals. Once approved, a student is eligible to receive services for the remainder of the school year regardless of changes in household income.

Food for Thought is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that provides healthy non-perishable breakfasts and lunches for more than 400 students who meet specific criteria in Dare County during school year weekends. All food is purchased at cost, not donated. Funds to support our programs come from grants and individual donors such as yourself.

John Franklin-Myers & Friends Preparing to Assemble Complete Season of Defense - newyorkjets.com

nnnindonesia.blogspot.com

John Franklin-Myers is on his way to a post-football career as a glad-handing, fence-mending politician, the way he's on a friendly first-name basis with, well, just about every defensive lineman around.

LA monster Aaron Donald? Franklin-Myers played alongside him as a Rams rookie in 2018. "You turn on some of my three-tech rushes, you see some of that in there," he said of AD's influence. "You talk about the best three-tech in the game and everybody wants to be like that, so what an opportunity I had to sit there and watch him ... and Michael Brockers and Ndamukong Suh."

San Francisco mainstays past and present Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner. JFM knows them through Solly. That's new Jets vet Solomon Thomas, of course.

"As I'm going back to three-technique after not being there for almost a year, it's a learning process for me," he said. "But I'm playing with Solly, who played with Arik and Buck, and Solly's played some great football too."

Then there are more current Jets who Franklin-Myers rubs elbows with from his new inside position — Quinnen as in Williams, Sheldon as in Rankins, and even Tanzel Smart, not a big DL name but another former Rams teammate of Franklin-Myers who "teaches me something every day ... he coaches me up on stuff and helps me out."

St. Louis County Council ethics committee wants closer look at colleague's weed work - St. Louis Post-Dispatch

nnnindonesia.blogspot.com

CLAYTON — Not only did a St. Louis County Council committee vote unanimously to delve deeper into Councilwoman Lisa Clancy’s ties to the marijuana industry, it also widened its scope to include several other larger players involved.

The council’s ethics committee said Friday it wants to continue researching whether Clancy, D-5th District, violated conflict of interest measures in 2019.

Along with the committee wanting Clancy to appear, it also said it would like to hear from County Executive Sam Page and influential state lobbyist Steve Tilley.

The specific issue being examined by the committee, first reported by the Post-Dispatch, is that Clancy was paid about $4,500 by the Summers Compton Wells law firm to work on marijuana license applications at the same time she was actively working to influence the county’s zoning ordinance regulating marijuana locations.

People are also reading…

“We need to dig deeper into this arrangement,” committee chairman Mark Harder, R-7th District, said.

The other committee members voting to dig deeper were Council Chair Rita Heard Days, D-1st District, and Councilman Tim Fitch, R-3rd District. The fourth committee member, Councilwoman Shalonda Webb, D-4th District, was absent.

“We have more work to do. I’m not (at the point) to say that Councilwoman Clancy did anything wrong,” Fitch said. “But let’s get this all on table ... bring in witnesses and ask them specific questions.”

Fitch said along with Page and Tilley, he would like to hear from the law firm, which is in Frontenac; the marijuana company, VG-St. Louis; and Winston Calvert, Page’s chief of staff during the time in question.

Clancy did not attend the ethics meeting. She has refused to be interviewed by phone or in person, saying she would only respond to written questions.

Earlier this week, she provided a letter from the law firm, dated July 11, 2019, that states the firm concluded her work was not a conflict.

The information about Clancy’s marijuana work came to light through the person who hired her in 2019. Shelby Partridge, who worked on marijuana license applications for the law firm, released text messages and emails to the Post-Dispatch that included exchanges between her and Clancy.

Council members Harder and Fitch also received similar information, anonymously through the mail.

Partridge, who was in a personal relationship with Calvert at the time, said she hired Clancy on Calvert’s recommendation.

Calvert could not be reached for comment Friday. Previously, he said Clancy was one of several people he recommended, but that he did so before joining Page’s staff.

Clancy, who is unopposed in the Aug. 2 primary, first joined the council in January 2019.

Her marijuana-related work began around June 24, 2019, and lasted until about Aug. 7. The council began deliberating the marijuana zoning ordinance on July 2 and finally passed it on Sept. 10.

Clancy’s work consisted of completing answers to questions that companies had to provide for state license applications, according to an email sent by Clancy to Partridge.

About one month into Clancy’s work, on July 31, 2019, Clancy told Partridge she would have to stop working on the applications because “Sam kinda flipped out about it the other night.”

Page, who has twice said he does not recall the incident with Clancy, provided this statement from his office about his appearance before the committee: “If the County Council ethics committee has a legitimate question about something in their jurisdiction, Dr. Page is happy to consider the request.”

The statement continued to imply the action was politically motivated: “Requests three days before an election should be seen for what they are,” it said.

Clancy’s financial interest statement filed with the county for the 2019 calendar year did not list any payments from the law firm.

The zoning ordinance that was being discussed governed the operation of marijuana growers, suppliers and dispensaries in St. Louis County.

The original bill forwarded by the county’s Planning Commission recommended a 300-foot buffer between marijuana locations and churches and schools — the buffer size preferred by the marijuana industry.

Clancy opposed the 1,000-foot buffer, recommended by the council public improvements committee, because it was a burden on those in need of medical assistance and on marijuana companies.

The planning commission revised the buffer to 500 feet, a compromise that also was rejected by the committee, which was chaired by Fitch.

The final bill that was passed Sept. 10 by the council specified a 1,000-foot buffer. Clancy and Councilwoman Kelli Dunaway, D-2nd District, voted against it.

On Jan. 1, 2020, Clancy’s campaign team received a $500 contribution from Tilley, a former Republican state House Speaker and close ally of Gov. Mike Parson.

Tilley now is a lobbyist for marijuana companies and also lobbies for the state’s largest medical marijuana trade group, Missouri Medical Cannabis Trade Association (MoCann).

The contribution was made on Jan. 1, 2020, and reported on Clancy’s fundraising report filed on April 15.

That contribution came less than two weeks after a political action committee tied to Tilley and Gardner Capital, a development company Tilley lobbies for, contributed $2,049 to Page’s campaign, the Post-Dispatch reported.

According to a Kansas City Star story in November 2019, Tilley and Gardner Capital, a company for whom Tilley lobbies, were among several subjects of an FBI investigation into a possible pay-to-play scheme in Independence, Missouri.

Tilley, reached by phone Friday, said that he was out of the country and was unaware of situation with Clancy and the ethics committee.

The Walking Dead series finale will complete the story rather than set up spin-offs - Gamesradar

nnnindonesia.blogspot.com

The Walking Dead may be coming to an end as season 11 wraps up later this year, but there are still plenty of zombie-filled spin-offs on the way. However, according to the show's bosses, the original series' finale will have its focus solely on completing that particular story rather than setting up any new adventures.

"The finale is about completing The Walking Dead story, not setting up spinoffs," Scott Gimple, The Walking Dead Universe chief content officer, said at SDCC 2022. "There's room for those spin-offs, but full-on, The Walking Dead finale concludes the story of this 11 years. We didn't want the spin-offs to get in the way of that satisfaction. They live together, I think, very nicely."

"I think that's right. I think the goal is that, even if there were no spin-offs, it would feel like there is a closure to the show itself," showrunner Angela Kang added. "The show itself needs its own ending. But doors are left open, as they so often are in life, and as they were even in the ending of the comic. There's always a story that's continuing once the story that you tell on screen has ended, so that's the spirit."

Three spin-offs have been set for 2023 – two untitled series, one about Daryl (Norman Reedus) and another about Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), and Isle of the Dead about Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Regan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). An anthology series, Tales of the Walking Dead, featuring origin stories of new and existing characters, is also set to premiere next month.

The final installment of The Walking Dead season 11 begins airing on October 2. In the meantime, check out our list of the best new TV shows coming our way in 2022 and beyond.

Stardew Valley: A Complete Guide To Sprinklers - GameRant

nnnindonesia.blogspot.com

Stardew Valley, the hit farming-RPG from independent developer Concerned Ape, remains one of the most popular titles in its genre. The game begins with players quitting their big-city job for a quiet life renovating their grandfather's farm in the titular Stardew Valley.

A farmer's work is never done however, and Stardew Valley's players will often find themselves starting each day with a series of chores. One of the most time-consuming of these chores is watering crops, which is necessary every day that it isn't raining. Fortunately, players can eventually free themselves from the daily grind of watering through the use of Sprinklers, essential tools that will automatically water nearby tiles.

RELATED: Stardew Valley: What To Do With Thunder Eggs

What Are Sprinklers in Stardew Valley?

Sprinklers are some of the best tools in Stardew Valley, as the time they save the player each day can allow for increased progression in other areas. There are three tiers of Sprinkler, starting with the basic version:

  • Sprinkler: Unlocked at Farming Level 2, and waters the 4 tiles that are orthogonally adjacent to the Sprinkler (i.e.; directly above, below, and to either side). Requires:
    • 1 Copper Bar
    • 1 Iron Bar
  • Quality Sprinkler: Unlocked at Farming Level 6. Waters all 8 adjacent tiles. Requires:
    • 1 Iron Bar
    • 1 Gold Bar
    • 1 Refined Quartz
  • Iridium Sprinkler: Unlocked at Farming Level 9. Waters all tiles within 2 tiles of the Sprinkler, 24 in total. Requires:

Once placed in a player's fields, Sprinklers will work automatically at the start of each day without any further input. It's worth noting, however, that Sprinklers won't water untilled tiles. Players who till new tiles within range of a Sprinkler will have to manually water those tiles on the first day.

The Best Way to Use Sprinklers in Stardew Valley

Despite being available very early in the game, the basic Sprinkler doesn't really cover enough ground to be worth its cost. Therefore, it's recommended that players don't make heavy use of Sprinklers until they've at least unlocked the Quality Sprinkler. A group of just four Quality Sprinklers can keep a 6x6 area of farmland watered indefinitely, saving players plenty in watering. Quality Sprinklers are especially useful in greenhouses, with only a few needed to cover the entire space, meaning that players only ever need to enter the greenhouse to harvest their crops.

The top-tier of Sprinkler usage is the Iridium Sprinkler, which is expensive but will allow players to create huge self-watering fields. However, all Sprinklers can also be boosted by a pair of late game items that are only readily available after players have reached Qi's Walnut Room:

  • Pressure Nozzle: Increases the range of any Sprinkler it is placed on to match the next tier. For Iridium Sprinklers, it increases the range to reach everything within 3 tiles.
    • Price: 20 Qi Gems
  • Enricher: Allows players to load Fertilizer into a Sprinkler, causing it to automatically fertilize nearby tiles when they are planted.
    • Price: 20 Qi Gems

It's also possible that monsters may drop a Pressure Nozzle or Enricher during the Qi's Hungry Challenge, Skull Cavern Invasion, or Danger in the Deep quests, or when the Shrine of Challenge has been activated in the mines.

Stardew Valley is out now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.

College degrees in order of education level start with an associate degree, followed by a bachelor's degree, master's, and doctorate. This guide introduces each degree and details time lengths, prerequisites, common fields of study, and reasons to pursue the degree.

Whether you're just starting to think about college or considering graduate school, this page might help.

Associate degree

Length of time to complete: One to two years
Number of credits required: ~60

High school graduates or GED completers who pursue an associate degree may want to enter the workforce quickly, save money, complete prerequisites toward a bachelor's, or explore a field of study before committing to a four-year program.

Community colleges and technical schools award business administration associate degrees and computer science associate degrees, along with degrees in other popular areas like healthcare, liberal arts and sciences, and criminal justice. Learners looking for flexibility while they work or attend to family responsibilities or those interested in accelerating their studies can explore online associate degree options.

Associate degree curriculums may include internships, practicums, or capstone projects. In addition to a high school or GED transcript, you may need a minimum GPA or ACT/SAT scores.

Associate degree types

Associate degree types include the three listed below.

An associate of applied science appeals to students anxious to begin working in positions like paralegal and registered nurse. Associate of arts and associate of science degrees serve students interested in bachelor's programs or entry-level jobs.

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS)
  • Associate of Arts (AA)
  • Associate of Science (AS)

Bachelor's degree

Length of time to complete: Four years
Number of credits required: ~120

Bachelor's degrees prepare students to enter many professions, including accounting, engineering, and information technology. They also provide a gateway to graduate study.

Four-year colleges and universities offer bachelor's degrees. Online bachelor's degree programs offer opportunities to earn accelerated bachelor's degrees in one to three years.

Admission typically requires a high school diploma or GED certificate, ACT/SAT scores, minimum GPAs, and prerequisite courses.

Bachelor's programs often offer internships and require graduates to complete capstone projects, practicums, or research papers. The four-year curriculum includes roughly two years of general studies and two years of major coursework.

Students can often transfer in after earning their associate degrees for the final two years of a bachelor's program.

SEE: Getting an internship with a tech company: Your how-to guide

Bachelor's degree types

Featured below are types of bachelor's degrees. They prepare you for careers in architecture and business administration or graduate study in the arts, fine arts, sciences, and humanities.

ESPN8: ‘The Ocho’ is coming back and here’s your complete schedule - SB Nation

nnnindonesia.blogspot.com

It’s incredible that rebranding ESPN2 as ESPN8: “The Ocho” brings so much excitement with it every year, but here we are once more and I’m hyped yet again. What began as a goof on the 2004 film Dodgeball: A true underdog story has become one of the biggest events of the year for those participating in sports nobody really watches.

For 2022 we will get to see ESPN8 starting on Friday, August 5th and if you’re curious what you need to watch I’ve selected a handful of the best events with my brief elevator pitch for each one.

  • 2022 Corgi Races at Emerald Downs: They’re corgis ... racing. ‘Nuff said.
  • 2021 Corunna Belt Sander Races: People turn their belt sanders into model cars and race them. I need to know everything about supercharging a belt sander.
  • 2022 Noblesville Bed Races: Competitors race through the streets pushing a bed with their teammate on it. Will a bed flip? Tune in to find out.
  • 2022 eSkootr Championship: Electric scooter racing that’s decidedly less annoying than people leaving them on the sidewalk.
  • Excel Esports: All-Star Battle: I kid you know, this is a Microsoft Excel battle. If you don’t believe me then watch this.
  • Red Bull Paper Wings: The simplicity of flying paper airplanes taken to incredible precision.
  • Slippery Stairs at The Ocho: The second year of competition where people need to climb a flight a slippery stairs.

There are obviously events all day long, with the premiere event being the “SuperHole” cornhole event which is a pro-am with celebrities. This, from ESPN.

“The SuperHole event pairs a celebrity with an ACL pro for the competition. Celebrities set to participate include: Jay Cutler, Doug Flutie, Terry Kirby, Ben Rector, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Dawn Staley, Chris Weidman and ESPN and SEC Network’s own Marty Smith.”

Here’s the complete schedule for ESPN8: The Ocho

Cubs complete three-game sweep of Phillies - Chicago Journal

By AARON BRACY | Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Yan Gomes hit two home runs, Drew Smyly tossed six sharp innings and the Chicago Cubs completed a three-game sweep with a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.

Nelson Velázquez also went deep for the Cubs, who have won four in a row to pull within 19 games of .500. It was Chicago’s first series sweep of the season and first three-game sweep in Philadelphia since July 25-27, 2000.

“It feels nice to put some wins together,” Cubs manager David Ross said. “Pretty good all-around team win. Sweeps are hard.”

Garrett Stubbs homered for the Phillies, who failed to gain ground in the NL wild-card race against the lowly Cubs. Only the Reds, Athletics and Nationals entered the day with fewer wins than Chicago.

“It’s obviously frustrating,” Philadelphia’s Kyle Schwarber said. “Just have to have a short memory but learn from it.”

Cubs starter Drew Smyly (3-5) had a perfect game going into the fifth, when Bryson Stott hit a two-out double to left-center that just eluded a dive from center fielder Christopher Morel. Stott scored on Alec Bohm’s single to left.

Smyly allowed one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks.

“He mixed the breaking ball in really well, keeping those guys off balance," Ross said. "He was in control the whole way.”

Gomes led off the third with the first of his two shots off Bailey Falter (0-3) to give Chicago a 1-0 lead. Morel’s RBI double — his NL rookie-leading 26th extra-base hit — made it 2-0.

In the fourth, Gomes connected for his sixth career multi-homer game with a drive to nearly the same spot in left field. And the Cubs pushed it to 4-0 when Velázquez drove Falter’s 75 mph curveball over the wall in left two batters later.

“I told Yan he gets all the day games now,” Ross joked about the Cubs’ backup catcher.

David Robertson pitched a scoreless ninth for his 14th save in 19 chances. Robertson had to wriggle out of a jam. With runners on first and second and one out, Didi Gregorius popped out to left and then Robertson struck out Stubbs swinging.

“This game will put you on the highest of highs and lowest of lows,” Schwarber said. “We have to keep doing what we were doing. We saw the results were there right before the break and we have to keep doing that.”

Velázquez came off the bench to hit two late home runs in Chicago’s win on Friday night, marking just the second time that’s happened to a Cubs player since at least 1901. The Cubs finished the series with eight home runs, in addition to 25 runs and 33 hits.

Falter gave up four runs on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks in five innings.

CASTELLANOS DROPS DOWN

Interim Phillies manager Rob Thomson dropped Nick Castellanos down to the No. 5 spot in the lineup from the No. 3 hole.

Castellanos signed a 5-year, $100 million free-agent in the offseason but has struggled in his first year in Philadelphia, entering Sunday batting .245 with 8 homers and 46 RBIs.

The demotion came a day after Castellanos and a longtime local beat writer got into a heated postgame exchange that went viral on social media when the reporter objected to Castellanos calling a question about fans booing him a “stupid question.”

Castellanos was loudly booed after striking out swinging in his first two at-bats before receiving raucous cheers for a seventh-inning single. He heard boos again after popping out foul to first to lead off the ninth.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Cubs: INF Nick Madrigal (left groin strain) was scheduled to continue his rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa on Sunday. Madrigal has been out since June 12. … LHP Wade Miley (left shoulder strain) is slated to throw live batting practice on Monday. He hasn’t pitched since leaving his June 10 start after three innings.

Phillies: Thomson was optimistic that Jean Segura (broken right index finger) might return sooner than expected following his workout on Saturday. Segura, out since June 1 and eligible to return from the IL on Aug. 3, could begin a rehab assignment sometime this week.

UP NEXT

Cubs: Host the Pirates for two games beginning on Monday night, when Cubs RHP Adrian Sampson (0-1, 3.34) faces Pirates RHP JT Brubaker (2-8, 4.02).

Phillies: Start three-game series against Atlanta on Monday. Phillies LHP Ranger Suarez (7-5, 4.07) faces Braves LHP Max Fried (10-3, 2.64).

Soccer transfer news, rumors: Jules Kounde saga continues, Bayern Munich complete Mathys Tel move, and more - CBS Sports

nnnindonesia.blogspot.com

What's better than a cup of coffee and the latest transfer news? Join in as CBS Sports provides the latest updates from around the world and what they mean to your favorite teams. Chelsea are now playing a waiting game on Jules Kounde as Barcelona circles. Talented forward Mathys Tel is heading to Germany, Gianluca Scamacca's move to West Ham has been confirmed by Sassoulo's CEO, Geroginio Wijnaldum could be on the move, and more.

Let's get to the transfer moves:

In the six-yard box

The biggest transfer stories of the day. These are the deals that are happening, or at least on the verge of getting done.

Julian Nagelsmann confirms Mathys Tel signing

After losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, Bayern Munich might be opting instead to bolster at the youth ranks, allowing Sadio Mane to provide a different type of danger as the point forward this season. Bayern have agreed to a deal with Rennes worth €20 million up front as well as an additional €8.5 million being available via add-ons. The 17-year-old Tel has only 49 minutes of Ligue 1 soccer under his belt, but due to his exploits at the youth level, this is a deal that Bayern wanted to complete to secure their future.

Speaking about Tel, Bayern manager Julian Naglesmann said, "One day, he could be one of the best forwards and I have the vision that he can score 40 goals at some point of his career." Given Naglesmann's record with improving youth, it's hard to doubt him.

Barcelona prepare opening bid to Sevilla for Jules Kounde

The saga continues as Chelsea thought the deal was wrapped up but that's not the case -- Barcelona still looms. Barcelona can't match Chelsea's accepted bid of £55 million but there is confidence that their bid will be strong enough to compete even without Memphis Depay or Sergino Dest being included. Sevilla states they've only been in discussions with Chelsea, but Monchi is a tough negotiator who keeps his cards close to his chest. The Blues have been here before for Kounde, which will only add to Tuchel's growing frustration with Barcelona.

Entering the penalty area

These moves might not be imminent, but there's a lot of transfer fire in all the smoke these players and teams might be blowing.

Sassouolo CEO confirms Gianluca Scamacca deal

Speaking to Corriere dello sport, Giovanni Carnevali confirms the deal saying, "There's an agreement with West Ham for €36m fee plus €6m add-ons and 10% sell-on clause." He continues: "I'm sure he will do great things, he's a huge talent and very good guy." Signing Scamacca will allow West Ham the ability to transition from Michail Antonio after scoring 16 goals in Serie A last season. He'll need a bit more refinement to adjust to the Premier League, but there aren't concerns that the talented forward won't be able to get it done.

Build-up play

These moves might be speculative but they're ones to keep an eye on.

Roma are interested in signing Georgino Wijnaldum

As PSG struggle to offload unwanted players, Roma could offer them a lifeline. Jose Mourinho's busy summer continues as Roma look to add Wijnaldum on a loan deal with an obligation to buy that could be worth €10 million. The hangup is on wages during the loan period; Roma wants PSG to cover 50 percent of his wages, according to Il Messaggero. PSG could be open to an exchange for Nicola Zalewski but Roma isn't interested in that. Wijnaldum is open to the deal as Roma have strengthened by adding Paulo Dybala this summer and could be an outside contender for Champions League in Serie A.

Ukraine war: 'Mission complete. One additional team member: a kitten called Snake' - Reuters

nnnindonesia.blogspot.com

KYIV, July 22 (Reuters) - Meet Snake, a kitten with a heck of a war story. And the Ukrainian special forces soldier who saved him.

When Ukraine's military released images in early July of its troops raising the country's blue and yellow flag over Snake Island, a desolate but strategic Black Sea outcrop abandoned by the Russians, it included pictures of soldiers picking up a tiny black kitten. They named him after the island.

On Friday, two weeks after he was saved, Snake was taken out for a frolic along the Dnipro River in the capital Kyiv and introduced to a small group of reporters. The man who saved him told the story of the kitten's rescue.

"In the first stage of the operation, we took a picture of the island's territory with a drone," said the special forces soldier, wearing a mask to conceal his identity, while the kitten, just a few months old, curled up in his hands.

"The commander saw the little comrade, and included the task of bringing him back as one of the mission objectives."

Was it hard to find a little kitten on a big, windy island?

"We thought it would be difficult, but he found us," the soldier said. "The report we made to the commander after we left the island was: 'Mission complete, no casualties. One additional team member - a kitten called Snake.'"

Snake Island has assumed legendary status in Ukraine since the very first hours of the war, when the Ukrainian garrison there, ordered by Russia's Black Sea Fleet flagship to surrender, radioed back an obscenity. The incident was immortalised on a Ukrainian postage stamp, and on the day it was released Ukraine sank the ship.

Today, Snake has found a new home in Kyiv. The soldier would not discuss the kitten's living arrangements in detail, but Snake seemed evidently happy in the soldier's hands.

"He is with a loving family now. All is well."
